Art Piece1

L’Art Piece 1, co-création artistique réalisée par Robert Greubel et Stephen Forsey en collaboration avec l’artiste Willard Wigan, accueille une micro-sculpture logée dans son propre espace, à l’intérieur du garde-temps. Cette œuvre, en cours de réalisation, contient un système optique réduit emboîté dans la carrure qui permet d’apprécier pleinement la micro-sculpture.

L’Art Piece 1 dévoile également notre première invention fondamentale, le Double Tourbillon 30°.
Né en 1957, l’artiste britannique Willard Wigan crée les plus petites sculptures du monde. Sous un microscope et à l’échelle de quelques microns, il sculpte l’or, les cheveux ou les grains de riz au prix d’un effort physique intense. Wigan est capable de ralentir les battements de son cœur, c’est même nécessaire pour guider son scalpel entre deux battements. Puis, exclusivement à travers un microscope, l’observateur peut voir les chefs d’œuvre réinterprétés par Wigan : personnages célèbres et monuments populaires, notamment le David de Michelangelo, la Statue de la Liberté et Nelson Mandela.

Art Piece 1, an artistic co‐creation by Robert Greubel and Stephen Forsey with Willard Wigan. Whilst still a work in progress, Art Piece 1 will feature a nano‐sculpture by Willard Wigan set into its own dedicated space within the timepiece. A miniature microscope set into the caseband will allow full appreciation of this chef‐d'oeuvre. Willard Wigan’s artwork in Art Piece 1 will be complemented by a sublime 30° inclined double tourbillion, which will ensure that this unique timepiece is as accurate as it is alluring.

Born in 1957, the British artist Willard Wigan creates the world’s smallest sculptures. Under a microscope and on a scale of microns, he sculpts gold, hair or grains of rice, demanding intense physical effort. Wigan is able to slow down his heartbeat; indeed he must, to guide his scalpel between the beats of his heart. Then, exclusively through a microscope, the viewer can see Wigan’s reinterpreted masterpieces of famous figures and popular monuments including like Michelangelo's David, the Statue of Liberty and Nelson Mandela.

Double Tourbillon Technique Black

Greubel Forsey explore de nouveaux horizons avec sa dernière réalisation, le Double Tourbillon Technique Black. Premier garde-temps noir de la collection, il est également le premier à être équipé d’un boîtier en titane et d’un bracelet en caoutchouc.
En son cœur bat le mécanisme Double Tourbillon 30°, situé à 6 heures. La transparence qu’offre celui-ci magnifie chaque composant du rouage tout en offrant un spectacle saisissant des deux cages du Double Tourbillon. Heures et minutes sont indiquées par des aiguilles ajourées, propres à Greubel Forsey et courent sur un anneau de saphir.
La vue dégagée et éclairée porte notre regard jusqu’à 6 heures où un indicateur en saphir muni de quatre pointes rouges, solidaire de la cage extérieure du tourbillon effectue une rotation en quatre minutes. La construction à caractère tridimensionnel du Double Tourbillon Technique Black est incontournable.
Embarquez pour un voyage visuel qui vous emmènera de la moitié supérieure du mouvement, aux petites secondes à 9 heures, des quatre barillets coaxiaux au trépied empierré soutenant les aiguilles des heures et des minutes, et pour finir enfin vers l'indicateur de réserve de marche à 3 heures.
La petite aiguille des secondes et la réserve de marche sont toutes deux équilibrées et remarquablement mises en valeur par leurs indicateurs rouges triangulaires. Les quatre barillets coaxiaux à rotation rapide offrent une grande autonomie de 120 heures.

The Double Tourbillon Technique Black breaks completely new ground for Greubel Forsey: It is the first black model in the Collection and the first Greubel Forsey timepiece to feature a titanium case and a rubber strap.
At the heart of the Double Tourbillon Technique Black is the Double Tourbillon 30° mechanism at 6 o’clock, with the unobstructed configuration of the open movement allowing full appreciation of the ballet of the two tourbillons, one rotating inside the other.
Hours and minutes are displayed by luminous, open‐worked signature Greubel Forsey hands against a transparent sapphire crystal ring, providing full visual access and luminosity to the depths of the mechanisms below. Transparency is also manifest at 6 o’clock with a red‐tipped, four‐pointed, sapphire crystal indicator rotating in four minutes above the double tourbillon, and indicates 0‐60 seconds along a quadrant. The three‐dimensionality of the Double Tourbillon Technique Black is apparent throughout.
A visual journey across the top half of the movement takes us from the small seconds near 9 o’clock, past the four coaxial mainspring barrels and the tall jewel‐capped tripod supporting the hour and minute hands, to the power reserve indicator at 3 o’clock. Both the small seconds and power reserve indicators are balanced and strikingly enhanced by their red triangular indicators. The four fast‐rotating co‐axial mainspring barrels provide a very generous 120 hours of autonomy.
