Le bureau Pininfarina célèbre cette année son quatre-vingtième anniversaire. Or, rien d’autre qu’un prestigieux garde-temps ne pouvait symboliser plus dignement un tel jubilé.

La conception et l’intégralité de la fabrication de ce nouveau calibre exclusif constitué de 514 composants ont été confiées à DIMIER 1738. Il est habillé d’un boîtier convertible permettant de porter la montre au poignet en affichant l’une ou l’autre de ses deux faces, d’associer le boîtier à une chaîne en titane, dont le design lui-aussi exclusif, permet un usage en montre de poche ou de transformer la montre en pendulette de table. Tout cela est réalisable, par des manipulations très aisées au gré des besoins.

L’énergie nécessaire à alimenter les deux barillets de ce mouvement est fournie par un micro-rotor bidirectionnel excentré en platine.
En plus d’afficher traditionnellement heures et minutes, un aiguillage inversé portant une aiguille unique autorise une lecture des heures, des demis et des quarts sur l’autre face du mouvement. Rappelant l’aiguille unique des premières montres de poche créées il y 500 ans, un tel affichage trouve une légitimité inégalée dans le cas d’une montre réversible telle que celle-ci.
En hommage au 80ème anniversaire de Pininfarina, les constructeurs de DIMIER 1738, ont réalisé un tourbillon effectuant une révolution complète en exactement quatre-vingt secondes alors que traditionnellement celle-ci dure une minute. Pour y parvenir ceux-ci ont créé une intersection au niveau du rouage de finition.
Au-delà de la roue de petite moyenne, le rouage se sépare en deux trains démultiplicatifs distincts : l’un alimentant la couronne des secondes qui fait un tour en trois minutes, l’autre, spécialement calculé transmet son énergie à la cage de tourbillon afin qu’elle effectue chacune de ses rotations en 80 secondes. Une solution finalement aussi simple qu’ingénieuse.
A noter encore que la serge du balancier a été dessinée en forme de ‘8 ‘ qui, centrée dans le cercle du balancier formant un ‘0’, évoque, une fois encore, avec subtilité et souci du détail le 80ème anniversaire de Pininfarina.
Le pivot supérieur de la cage de tourbillon porte une aiguille qui n’affiche évidemment pas les secondes mais parcourt huit segments, comme autant de décennies de l’histoire de Pininfarina en se reportant aux huit phrases emblématiques signées Pininfarina gravées sur le pourtour de la carrure. L’équilibrage de l’ensemble est garanti par une vis spéciale Pininfarina.

Complétant l’affichage des heures et des minutes au centre, des secondes et du tourbillon à 3 heures, la réserve de marche est indiquée à 9 heures par aiguille. Venant clore cette parfaite symétrie, la grande date s’affiche à 6 heures par deux disques concentriques.
Deux poussoirs, situés de part et d’autre de la bélière permettent d’extraire le brin supérieur du bracelet. Un verrou coulissant de type “ répétition minute “ libère quant à lui la lunette de fond qui pivote sur une charnière située à 6 heures. Cette opération permet de libérer le brin inférieur du bracelet. Dès lors, il est possible de déposer sa montre qui se mue ainsi en pendulette de table reposant sur la lunette de fond qui assure alors la fonction d’un support stable.
Selon ses envies ou ses besoins l’utilisateur peut alors refixer le bracelet en ayant le choix d’afficher l’une ou l’autre des faces de la montre ou refermer la lunette de fond et venir fixer en lieu et place du brin supérieur du bracelet une chaîne qui transforme ainsi ce prestigieux objet en une élégante montre de poche.

Pininfarina, a true standard bearer of this activity, celebrates its 80th anniversary this year.
Yet, there could be no better way of commemorating a jubilee of this importance than with a prestigious timepiece.
BOVET FLEURIER and Pininfarina, who today, proudly unveil their masterpiece: The OTTANTA® Tourbillon.

The development of this new calibre and every aspect of the design and production of its 514 constituent parts is the work of DIMIER 1738’s engineers and watchmakers. It is housed in a convertible case, meaning it can be worn on the wrist with either of its two faces displayed, or combined with a titanium chain – also exclusively designed – for use as a pocket watch, or deployed as a miniature table clock. All of this is possible by means of simple manipulations, without tools, according to the needs or mood of its owner.
The energy required to power the two barrels of this movement is supplied by an off-centred, bidirectional platinum micro-rotor.
As well as displaying hours and minutes in a traditional layout, a reverse hand-fitting carrying a single hand that allows the hours, half-hours and quarter-hours to be read on the movement’s other face. Reminiscent of the single hand of the very first pocket watches dating back to 500 year ago, it is a type of display ideally suited to a reversible watch.
As a tribute to the 80th anniversary of Pininfarina, the technical designers of DIMIER 1738, created a tourbillon which makes one complete revolution in exactly 80 seconds, whereas traditionally this operation lasts one minute. To achieve this, they created an intersection in the going train.

After the third wheel, the train is divided into two separate reduction trains: one powering the seconds-crown, which makes one revolution every three minutes, the other, specially designed, transmitting its energy to the tourbillon cage to ensure that it completes each of its rotations in 80 seconds; a solution both simple and ingenious. It will be noted also that the rim of the balance wheel has been designed in the shape of an ‘8’, centred in the ring representing the ‘0’, evoking once more with subtlety and attention to detail the 80th anniversary of Pininfarina.
The upper pivot of the tourbillon cage carries a hand which naturally does not display the seconds but traverses eight segments, recalling the number of decades in Pininfarina’s history, and points to eight emblematic phrases penned by Pininfarina and engraved on the timepiece. The assembly is balanced by a specially designed Pininfarina screw.
The power reserve is indicated at 9 o’clock. To round off this perfect symmetry, the big date is displayed at 6 o’clock by means of two concentric discs.
Two push-pieces on either side of the bow allow the upper section of the wristlet to be extracted. A “minute repeater” type slide releases the bottom bezel which pivots on a hinge at 6 o’clock. This operation allows the lower section of the wristlet to be released.
The watch can then be removed and transformed into a miniature table clock resting on a stable support assured by the lower bezel. According to mood or necessity, the user can then reattach the wristlet and choose which face of the watch to display, or reclose the lower bezel and replace the upper section of the wristlet with a chain, turning this prestigious object into an elegant pocket watch.
