William Baume Chronographe Monopoussoir

Complication aussi utile qu’esthétique, le chronographe monopoussoir permet d’enclencher, de stopper et de remettre à zéro la mesure des temps courts par la pression sur un seul poussoir. Il permet ainsi d’alléger l’esthétique de la montre sur le côté du boîtier en intégrant en un même élément la couronne et les deux poussoirs, contre trois éléments distincts sur les chronographes usuels.
Nouveau venu dans la collection William Baume, ce modèle tire sa légitimité d’une montre-bracelet avec fonction chronographe monopoussoir éditée par Baume & Mercier en 1938. En phase avec le design contemporain de la ligne William Baume, cette nouveauté reprend sur son cadran argenté les deux compteurs horizontaux du modèle original: la petite seconde du mouvement à 9h et le compteur des minutes du chronographe à 3h.
La lecture des secondes du chronographe se fait comme d’habitude par aiguille centrale.
Le cadran argenté est agrémenté d’un décor guilloché «Vieux Panier» et d’une finition «satiné soleil» sur le contour des compteurs et le tour d’heures. Le mouvement mécanique à remontage manuel, avec sa platine perlée, ses ponts décorés «Côtes de Genève» et ses vis en acier bleui, peut être admiré par la grande ouverture saphir du fond du boîtier.
Le boîtier en or rouge 18 carats est de taille XL (41 mm), sur bracelet en alligator marron foncé cousu main.

A complication that is both useful and aesthetically pleasing, the single push-piece chronograph serves to start, stop and reset short times by pressing a single pusher. It thereby also streamlines the aesthetic of the case side by integrating the crown and two pushers into a single element, compared with three separate elements on conventional chronographs.
This newcomer to the William Baume collection derives its historical legitimacy from a wristwatch with a single push-piece chronograph function introduced by Baume & Mercier in 1938. Entirely in tune with the contemporary design of the William Baume line, the silvered dial of the new model reflects the two horizontal counters of the original: the small seconds counter at 9 o’clock and the chronograph minute at 3 o’clock.
The chronograph seconds are read off as usual by the central hand. The silvered dial is adorned with a “Vieux Panier” guilloché décor and a sun satin-finish on the rings surrounding the chronograph counters and the chapter ring.
The mechanical hand-wound movement, with its circular-grained mainplate, bridges graced with “Côtes de Genève” and blued steel screws, can be admired through a broad sapphire crystal window in the case-back.
The 18K red gold XL-sized (41 mm) case is teamed with a hand-stitched chestnut brown alligator strap.

William Baume Tourbillon Volant

En 1892 déjà, la maison « Frères Baume » battait le record absolu de précision au concours de chronométrie de l'observatoire de Kew en Angleterre avec un chronomètre à tourbillon, acclamé comme la montre la plus exacte de son temps. Aujourd’hui Baume & Mercier revisite cette spécialité sous sa forme la plus esthétique et la plus techniquement aboutie, le tourbillon volant.
Contrairement au tourbillon classique, qui est maintenu par deux ponts, inférieur et supérieur, le tourbillon volant est fixé uniquement par son axe, laissant entier le spectacle de son tournoiement.
Autre spécificité, le modèle tourbillon de la Collection William Baume est placé à 9h, une position inhabituelle et très élégante. Le cadran, guilloché d’un décor «Vieux Panier», est en outre animé par un compteur de petite seconde à 6h. Le mécanisme à remontage manuel, aux ponts décorés «Côtes de Genève», aux vis en acier bleui et à la platine perlée, peut être admiré par une large ouverture saphir au fond du boîtier. Il offre une réserve de marche de 52 heures.
La nouvelle édition du modèle William Baume Tourbillon se distingue de la première édition par son cadran noir et son bracelet alligator noir cousu main.
Le boîtier de taille XXL (43 mm) se pare d’or rouge 18 carats pour mettre en valeur cette pièce d’exception.

In 1892, the “Frères Baume” company set an absolute precision record at the chronometry competition held in Kew Observatory in England with a tourbillon chronometer, acclaimed as the most accurate watch of its time.
Today, Baume & Mercier revisits this specialty through its most aesthetically pleasing and most technologically accomplished interpretation, the flying tourbillon.
Contrary to a classic tourbillon, which is held by two upper and lower bridges, the flying tourbillon is secured exclusively by its arbor, thus affording free views of its spectacular spinning motion. Another distinctive feature of this new model in the William Baume collection lies in the unusual and extremely elegant 9 o’clock position of its tourbillon escapement.
The dial adorned with a “Vieux Panier” decorative decor is also enlivened by a small seconds display at 6 o’clock. The hand-wound mechanism featuring bridges embellished with “Côtes de Genève”, blued steel screws and a circular-grained mainplate can be admired through a broad sapphire crystal window in the case-back.
It is endowed with a 52-hour power reserve. The new edition of the William Baume Tourbillon model is distinguished from the first edition by its black dial and its black hand-stitched alligator strap. The XXL (43 mm) case glows with the radiance of 18K red gold to highlight this exceptional creation.
