The prestigious Tourbillon with three Bridges family welcomes a limited edition with an assertive personality: a new Vintage 1945 case, with a curved profile, houses an uncommon form of the three Bridges. Their design is inspired by a watch made by Constant Girard-Perregaux in the 1860s. Fifty pieces revisit this heritage with a modern outlook.

L’angle droit et les formes épurées visent la perfection. Inspiré par cette explosion créative, Girard-Perregaux signe en 1945 une montre illustrant ces principes. Aujourd’hui, la nouvelle Vintage 1945 propose une lecture actuelle de ce style.

Art Deco revolutionised the inter-war period, sparking major changes in the world of visuals and decoration. The new players in architecture, interior design, fashion, painting and photography established simplicity, geometry and structural coherence as fundamental concepts. The right angle and refined forms aimed for perfection. Inspired by this burst of creativity, in 1945 Girard-Perregaux signed a watch illustrating these principles. Today the new Vintage 1945 offers a modern reading of this style.

CHRONOGRAPHE R&D 01 «MONTE-CARLO 1983»

Girard-Perregaux a créé un chronographe à la fois sportif et élégant, inspiré par sa collection R&D 01.
Le boîtier conçu par Luigi Macaluso est caractérisé par ses poussoirs inversés pour une utilisation facilitée du chronographe lors des compétitions sportives. De plus, la couronne contrôlant la lunette tournante interne est positionnée à 4 heures pour un accès facile, une correction aisée et un confort optimal.
Le cache-couronne aux lignes douces et arrondies, inspiré par la forme des prises d’air de voitures de compétition, protège également le correcteur de date. Le fond est fermé par des vis spéciales similaires à celles utilisées pour monter la structure de moteurs automobiles de compétition. Le mouvement mécanique présente les fonctions du chronographe avec aiguilles centrales des minutes et des secondes, complétées par deux compteurs pour les heures du chronographe et pour l’indication des 24 heures.
Ils sont associés à une bague tournante interne pour l’utilisation du compte à rebours, ainsi qu’à un indicateur de date.

Girard-Perregaux created a sporty yet elegant chronograph inspired by its R&D 01 collection.
The case designed by Luigi Macaluso is characterized by its inverted push-pieces for an easier use of the chronograph during sporting competitions.
At the same time, the crown controlling the inner rotating bezel is positioned at 4 o’clock for easy access, user-friendly correction and wearer comfort.
The smooth and rounded crown-shield, inspired by the shape of a competition car’s air intake, protects the date corrector as well as the crown. The case-back is secured by special screws similar to those used for structural assembly of racing car engines.
The mechanical movement displays the functions of the chronograph with central chronograph minutes and seconds hands, supplemented by two subdials for the chronograph hours and the 24-hour indication. These are associated to an inner rotating ring for countdown use and a date indicator.

 

GIRARD-PERREGAUX 1966 CALENDRIER ANNUEL ET EQUATION DU TEMPS

La dernière née de la collection abrite un mécanisme inédit, le calibre GP033M0. Très pratique, le calendrier annuel, qui présente ici la date et le mois, tient automatiquement compte des durées différentes des mois et n’exige pas plus d’une correction par an, chaque 28 février pour les années non bissextiles. L’équation du temps signale quant à elle, avec l’aiguille située à 4 heures 30, l’écart entre le temps solaire réel et le temps moyen, ou temps civil.
Pour parfaire la qualité technique du modèle, Girard-Perregaux l’a équipé de son balancier à inertie variable Microvar. Il associe sur sa serge six vis réglables et deux masselottes, utilisées respectivement pour équilibrer le balancier et pour effectuer un réglage fin de la marche du mouvement.

Girard-Perregaux 1966 models pay tribute to the Brand’s great tradition, combining watchmaking excellence with elegant style. True to this spirit, the newcomer to the collection houses an original mechanism: the calibre GP033M0. The highly practical annual calendar, which in this case indicates the date and month, automatically counts the different lengths of the months, so that only one correction a year is required, every 28 February except for the leap years. With its hand at 4:30 the equation of time indicates the difference between real solar time and mean time or civil time.
To enhance the technical quality of the model, Girard-Perregaux has fitted it with its Microvar variable inertia balance. On its rim it combines six adjustable screws and two inertia blocks, used respectively for adjusting the balance equilibrium and making a fine adjustment to the movement rate

CHRONOGRAPHE RETOUR EN VOL « MONTE-CARLO 1973 »

Girard-Perregaux présente un nouveau chronographe retour en vol équipé d’une échelle tachymétrique. Ses fonctions sont adaptées à une utilisation sportive. Grâce à la fonction retour en vol, une seule pression sur le poussoir remplace la traditionnelle séquence d’opérations : arrêt-remise à zéro-démarrage. L’échelle tachymétrique permet de mesurer la vitesse d’un corps en mouvement.

Girard-Perregaux designed a new fly-back chronograph equipped with a tachymeter scale. Its functions are dedicated to sport. Thanks to the fly-back function, pressing once the push-piece replaces the traditional sequence of operations: stop-reset-start. The tachymeter scale engraved on the bezel enables to calculate the speed of a body in motion.
